Frosty,
A couple years ago I had a craft persons that set up next to me at a
festival teach me how to spin. She even lent me her wheel so I could
practice at home for a while. She had been using a bent wire to thread the
wool onto the bobbin, this not only was a little hard to use it was really
ugly. So I made a nice handle and hook which I gave to her when I returned
the wheel. She was really excited about it and was going to show it around
the fiber guild. I really expected to get some orders out of it, but no
luck.
Anyway, yes, I would like to get a picture of your Doffer. Maybe that will
go over better than the threading hook did.

Hey Mike, glad to see another steel wool couple!
The doffers I'm making are the awl on a handle but fancier and just plain
better tools than the blunted ice pick commercial versions.
DANG!!! I've just spent a good half hour trying to figure out how to upload
a couple pics to Photoaccess but it won't let me unless I install a couple
apps and I'd rather not open my computer to malware. The old system had a
"Browse" button so you could select a pic file and click "Upload" and it was
a done deal.
Anyone interested in a pic I'll be happy to send em on the side. Deb and I
have to go to Anchorage today to visit a friend of hers who's husband was
injured about as badly as I was in a drilling accident so it may be tomorrow
or sunday before I get back. Don't let me forget if I don't get back in a
reasonable time, I forget things more often now. <sigh>
