[TheForge] cutting wood

It's pretty humbling when I think about how many people were praying for me.
I've never seen myself as much more than a likable story teller with a knack
or two, some training and experience to share but certainly NOT a great
smith, an artist or. Uh well I don't come close to so many truly talented
guys I've met online. Still . . . Deb set me up in the hospital with a
netbook and a Facebook act. There I soon discovered a lot of guys who seemed
to love puns and my twisted sense of humoe but the one that really got to me
is how many guys thought I was something special for the way I'd welcome
folk to a forum or list. There is just no way to tell how you might touch
someone, I know I've been touched incredibly deeply by all the people online
who pulled so hard for me. Deb calls you guys her Hairy faced blacksmiths
and a time or two guys came together and lit fires under people here in AK
to do the right things. Deb loves you guys as much as I do.

Anyway, it's hard to say how good it is to be here with a mind mostly intact
and a body that's getting back in shape. Believe it or not getting into the
talk on the lists and fora has really helped get my brain ticking again. It
wasn't that long ago I couldn't visualize the workings of a chip stove and
type at the same time. Thankfully that's changing.

I wasn't holding one type of wood burner up over others. My only problem
with pellet stoves is the expense of pellets here, about 3x the cost per lb
of buying stovewood. I know if I lived where pellets were more available and
better priced we'd probably have one. A REALLY good thing about pellets is
you can make darned near any wood into pellets and they work well. Trash
wood, right of way slash, land clearing and just about any other source will
make good pellets. What a great way to make use of what's otherwise a
nuisance.

Have you considered an insert for your fireplace? Some of them actually make
darned efficient wood heaters with force air and efficient heat exchanging
walls. If your fireplace is too far out of position it may not work
regardless of how good the instert works but. . . Maybe?

Living proof prayer works, Frosty the Lucky.
