> Joe Kotches and his excellent "The Blacksmith's Shop" in Ferndale was right near the epicenter of the 6.5 earthquake in Northern CA. 

I hear he's unhurt but his store is pretty messed around. The big front 
display windows shattered.
  There was a heck of a lot of excellent ironwork in there and i bet 
most of it is now on the floor, no longer on the shelves, cases or walls.
