I like many people tell the folks who want window and dorr bars to go to the hardware store, get 1 Inch pipe with a lot of fittings and screw it all together to make your security bars and if a few pounds of black powder is used to fill up space then you will know when some one is really trying to break in.

Back when I had a liability policy, they told me to just stay away from 
welding on trailer hitches and doing burglar bars.
