[TheForge] OT - Snow in NJ

Back in the mid-'70's, one inch of snow shut down Little Rock, AR, completely.
A couple Christmases ago, 12"-18" of snow shut down the Portland, OR, area.
Now, 2'-3' of snow has shut down parts of NJ.

I just checked the Township's website for an update and found this:

The problem is a cascade effect. We don't have the plows to handle
this much snow. Because of that, cars have become stuck on roadways,
including a couple ambulances on the local freeway, Rte 18.
Ambulances are so low to the ground that they must follow a plow to
get where they are going. My friend Marshall even suggested that
there might be an employee work slowdown, due to the resentments over
the recent lay-offs. However, my neighbor two doors down drives a
municipal snow plow and I'm not sure he's even been home since Sunday
night! If he has, he must have trudged his way through 3' of snow to
get home.

Meanwhile, my snowshoe tracks down my street remain the only signs of
traffic on this street. It's good to know I can get myself out of
here if I must. I don't know whether I could get a cab to meet me at
the end of the block, though, as I doubt cabs are running either. I
could always use my bicycle, which, unfortunately, is in a shed in my
backyard, with snow up to 6" below the doorknob!

This snow will be cleared on Sunday -- when the rains come! Mother
nature to the rescue.

I wouldn't want to be on the Town Council at the next Council meeting!
