[TheForge] OT - Snow in NJ

A number of years ago I was visiting my daughter in Portland, Oregon for
Xmas, and it was one of the rare years they see snow... well, about 6-8
inches of the stuff fell and the city shut down... completely. All busses
stopped running, none of the stores save the ones where the employees lived
within walking distance were open, city government was closed. They declared
it a disaster... I was laughing hysterically over that. Meanwhile I was the
only person on the unplowed roads driving around in a normal little rental
car and everyone thought I was insane. My response to them was "if you can't
drive in up to 3 feet of snow, don't move to NE Ohio... you will be stuck in
your home from November till March... and sometimes even April or May. Being
as they don't get snow often there, I could see most people staying home as
they have no plows for the roads, but to declare it a natural disaster day
was just a touch over the top I thought. LOL.

We 13.5 feet last year at our place in Summers Co. WV. In Elkview now -
barely a foot. This is the life. Friends in Hinton say they got hit pretty
good, maybe 4' the night before last. At that rate, they will be well past
13 feet by spring. That side of the Appalachians gets it way harder than
this side (west). Weather-wise, I like the Charleston area more than down
south, that is for sure.
