I don't think so Ries.
The early hammers , at least, had low RPM motors..1100 if i recall
right, which are built with different armatures and windings.

Think Gary G and Peter Prunuske and some others ended up going over to
1800 RPM American motors and a jack shaft set up, to slow them down.

Doubt Gary's lasted a year, including the capacitor replacements.

Recall Bondi mentioning that. Your economic logic is what drew us to
them in the first place.
Ken Rogers, who'd traveled a lot in the far east, said he had seen some
that survived very heavy use and awful neglect for a long time.
Told a story about preparing them for seasonal flooding by routinely
hoisting the motors up, and placing them atop the hammers till the
water receded.
