I guess I've been lucky. I've had a HF drill press for going on 15 years now and never had a problem. The AFC has 2, one I bought for them 8 or 9 yrs ago. While these don't get used everyday, when they are used during workshops and hammer-ins, they are really abused. Both are working great.
