This is no time to let sentiment get in the way.
How will it play out when he does gore the new owner, one of the owners 
children , or a guest?

No matter what the explanation he is still an animal that you are 
accountable for. You can take all the risks that you want with your own 
hide, but have little right to play with someone elses.  Even if you 
warn them, you KNOW, they will only have been informed.
