His e-mail bounced because of "too many recipients" and being
written in "rich text" and so on.  I am not going to try to explain to the son
about all of the rules that the "TheForge" robot insists on. I will just process
those bounced e-mails and send them on to "TheForge"

Subject: Important Update


This is John's son Jerod posting for him again.  I wanted to give everyone a
realistic update on what is going on with my father...

John went back into the hospital on Saturday evening due to having a
mid-grade fever, pain, and difficulty breathing.  It was determined that he
had developed a new pneumonia infection in his left lung.  They have tried
various methods to stabilize his breathing and problems with his lungs, all
of which have met with small success.

This morning John, the doctors and my mother made the decision to have him
go into an induced sleep for up to two weeks to allow his body to heal.
They also have inserted a "vent" with which they can clear mucous, deliver
oxygen and food to his body.  I am told this is NOT an induced coma, though
I don't know what the difference is.  I am waiting for an answer from a
friend who is an anesthesiologist.

I don't know how this is going to shake out, but, realistically, this is the
worst shape he has ever been in and this is a very drastic step to save his
life.  The doctors are still more positive than negative about his
prognosis, and we're taking a plan for the worst, hope for the best approach
here.  My sister, Ruth, is flying in Sunday afternoon to help with things
around the house and just to be close.  His sister, Jan, is also on standby
to come here from Dallas on short notice, and otherwise may be joining us
after Christmas.

Folks, I don't care who you pray to, or how, or even if you just believe in
sending "good vibes."  Do it.

I don't check his email very often, to respect his privacy, but messages
will be kept for him when everything works out.

I will keep posting as I can with information,
