[TheForge] Anyone there? OT:

More than kind of stupid and if the folks had caught us we would've been
toast. We were extremely careful but the kids we wouldn't let play because
they weren't careful tended to play anyway, just not with us. A few got hurt
though fortunately nothing terrible like a lost eye. What we really learned
was what it means to lead by example. When Kinny had to have an embedded BB
taken out of his cheek we never played or even talked about it again.

All of us have dangerous persuits or professions and as adults we've learned
how to keep the inexperienced from taking uneccessary chances. At least on
our watches. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who played dangerous games
as a kid and got off lucky. Ever have a wheelie contest on your stingray
bike? Two kids I went to school with ended up with traumatic brain injuries
because nobody wore helmets on bicycles then.

I often wonder how I survived childhood when so many didn't.

Jer.
