If the missus doesn't care for the ventilation in your clothes maybe she 
should feed you less gassy food. <grin>

I had mine made, it was expensive but Oak tanned split moose hide is nearly 
as tough as unboiled leather gets. My apron has protected me from all kinds 
of bad things out to get me including a 9" grinding disk that broke in use 
hitting me square in the diaphram to no effect. Heck, it didn't even scuff 
the apron.

Welding suppliers will probably have or be able to get an apron for fairly 
reasonable.
