I work in a UL lighting shop and am the UL go-to guy there.
-all electrical & mounting components must be UL approved
-component supporting material must be of a minimum thickness
-minimum distances from mounting surfaces must be kept
-appropriate, UL approved labeling must be attached
-certain electrical tests must be passed
Is this an interior or exterior fixture?
-there are 3 types of incandescent labels- dry , damp & wet location
-dry is interior only, damp is for a covered area, wet is for fully
exposed to the elements
Your best bet is to find a UL lighting shop and have them evaluate it,
but it can be expensive
