I saw the sculptors carving the side of Stone Mountain with big blow torches
 but you would probably have to dig a hole beside it to contain the debris
to keep it from hitting your house...

Another way is to build a big fire on it . When the firs burns down
rake the coals off and douse with water. repeat as nessary.
