hello;
to anser the question that i asked in a separate posting, "can pex be
used for air systems?" the answer is that plain pex is not suitable for
compressed air systems. what is usable is pex-al-pex. what is
pex-al-pex? the answer is here:

i have no idea of cost comparison with plain old black pipe.
