I don't have a set treatment because I use salvaged 
steel mostly. I heat treat for effect, large bright 
orange, long lived sparks.

I take a test striker to full hardness and strike a 
spark, if necessary temper a little at a time till I 
get sparks I like. Then do the rest if there are more.
