Glad you delurked Nick.

In addition to the machine shop equipment you might 
consider a small scale foundry. Lots of things were 
cast al, iron, bronze, etc. and require a lot more time 
to machine than cast.

Besides, glowing molten metal is fun stuff.

All safety disclaimers apply, know what you're doing 
and be properly equipped. It's a lot more fun if you 
aren't in a burn ward.
