Hey Terry,
What about the term" Forge". It is now used routinely for the whole 
blacksmith's shop instead of the older  more correct term "Smithy" .
 call the design  of my shop a Yurt, but a Law Professor friend of mine says 
the correct name is a Ger.
Our language is constantly changing.
Unfortunately, in my opinion, for the worse.
