To answr the questions people raised. Nah.. Wouldn't be acetylene. It's just a small bbq tank running.
What's the consideration of the hoses? As far as air, I've got a squirrel blower vented outside quite close by. I've also got a ceiling vent and keep the door open to the hallway. I managed to make spark after and not die so no leaks thus far ;-) I used soapy water on the joints before I lit it up.
I'd love to have someone come take a look but you are all so far away!
Sadly.

Don, how many solutions would you like to consider?
What tools are at your disposal?
What's your time VS money value set?
Is this a one time proposition?
And so on...grin..pf

Bruce don't you have one of those too?
I don't think my wife would see eye to eye with me on keeping one of these
around, even if I try to explain that the model is really a tool...

I'm not sure what your experience is here and I can't really tell from an
email so....
You need to have some way to vent the forge. From your email - you mentioned
stuff hanging in the air - the image I have is of you in an enclosed space.
Bad. Very bad. You need a way to move the fumes.
You're gonna get something of a smell on a new forge but I'd try and get
someone who is an experienced smith or metalworker to guide you through it.
That's your best bet.
Not to mention there are various things you need to keep track of in terms
of how you situate your hoses and which valves to shut on and off and in
what order.
Err on the side of caution.

Freehand forging a corkscrew from tool steel bar is pretty darn
challenging for me!...end up fiddling around with them endlessly. pf

I was hoping for a single solution whereby you make an on line purchase and
later on someone sends you 400 1" round copper tags that are neatly stamped 1
through 400. Alas, that may not be.

Don,
Search the web or Thomas Reg. under "metal checks and tags." MSC has
them (metal unspecified) for $1+ each, numbered up to 200.
