Karen,
Great question. What sort of color and extent are you looking for in your
"rusting"? Is this for artistic purposes or for protective metal treating?
In this month's American Rifleman they talk about using salt water to
achieve the brown look of old school muzzle loading rifles. This is
apparently what gunsmiths in ye olden days used...
So I guess I would need more information on what you are after :)
