[TheForge] Fw: Machine screw size?

Any other marking or name on anything? Place of manufacture? Any guess on
age?

If it was British made (as many older planes were) and it is pre-metric then
it is most likely a Whitworth thread. They are 55 degrees vs. the USA and
metric threads that are 60 degrees. You will not find these anywhere easy
in the states except maybe somewhere on the web. Older British cars also
used the Whitworth thread form, as did older British guns.

Hell, if your not trying to "restore" it then just tap it out -- of course
you will destroy its value to collectors -- old planes go for a bunch among
tool collectors.

Then again it may be metric. Bike stores will have smaller metric bolts.
