Sure I can hand hammer the heck out of 1/2" stock, but I find that I do  
just about all my forging other than very thin stuff and finish on my  
LG25. Not that I'd trade having learned how to do relatively heavy forging  
by hand, there's just nothing like it for learning how hot steel moves...
Just figure out how to get a hammer and you'll never regret it- buying a  
ready-to-work LG is a great strategy. If you have work, you need to get a  
hammer and put it to work, not spend weeks trying to get a hammer built.
