My first thought is to go ahead and buy it. The price isn't cheap but  
it does seem to be in the neighborhood of other hammers. Unless the  
main casting is cracked LG's are pretty rebuildable. But new parts  
from Sid are not cheap.

For $1650 or not too much more you could probably buy an air  
compressor and build a small airhammer like this one.
