[TheForge] making blow tubes

Hello Allen,
Figured I'd throw my $0.02 in here as well...
I've made some blow tubes in the past which were fairly well received...
The stock I used was square tube (about 7/16" O.D. - can't remember the wall
thickness though) cut to 24" in length. I went that long so they could be
used for both campfires and fireplaces. I 'belled' one end by heating and
driving a punch into it then I did a re-heat and finished the bell with a
small ballpien. The other end was carefully flattened to give a < 1/8th in
gap - had to use a flat blade screwdriver to wedge a couple of the open a
little more - got a little too enthusiastic with my pounding - oh yes the
screwdriver... came in handy when I was doing the end/bend - heat the end
that's been flattened stick in the driver and tweak it to your favorite
angle...
:)
Have fun!
Wes aka William the Tinker.
Ps: I really need to get down to Salem Village again... I was thru there
once several years ago, and I was quite impressed!
