hello;

i was out today running errands and getting qoutes on some steel. i had
a quote from 20 march 2009 so i figured i get an updated quote. i was
shocked at ther difference between the two quotes for the same order of
steel. the salesman at dimco (dekalb iron and metal company) was equally
shocked. he said that he checked it twice before he printed out the
quote.

the 20 march 2009 quote is  $2,569.35 usd
the 03 june  2009 quote is  $1,742.68 usd

a difference of $826.67 usd. by waiting two month roughtly to order the
steel there is a savings of $826.67 usd.

i am curious if others have seen this drop in steel/metal prices in
their locales. i had heard the steel prices were dropping like a rock in
illinois and indiana but i did not expect that drastic a drop.

the salesman at dimco even suggested that if i were to wait two more
weeks that i may save an additional $200.00 to $300.00 usd on the quote.
that would be a possible savings of $1,026.67 to $1,126.67 usd. that is
nearly 40 percent off the original quote.
