Common varieties of titanium make a crappy knife blades, it is just  
not hard enough. The exotics may come closer but in either case the  
cost would be way too high for "give away" chinese made junk. The most  
likely thing is that it is coated with some form of vapor deposited  
micron thick titanium. I have seen drill bits from Grizzly that have  
this rainbow coloration, they are pretty but still crappy drill bits.
