Peter Ross taught a class on making  dividers last August at the New England
School of Blacksmithing in Auburn ME.

Don Fogg  took photographs and prepared a slide show you can see it at:

It was a 5 day class.  A lot of work.  Learned a tremendous amount.  Your
hammer control really needs to be spot-on.  There is a lot of forging to
dimension with very close tolerances.
