[TheForge] Off-topic: Anyone have experience with dynamic balancing, vibration sensing & vib-synched stroboscopes, and/or critical disk and/or rotor speeds?

When we rebuild the blower assemblies for large air handlers we hire a fan balancer to dynamically balance the rebuilt assembly on site when we're done.  It cost about $450 here in NJ and the peace of mind is worth it.
I've seen assemblies that were out of balance blow apart and send chunks of shrapnel right through sheet metal panels.  1740 RPM is pretty fast, if it came apart it would shred anybody standing too close.
