[TheForge] polyeuethane finish- Was Durocoat

Wouldn't polyurethane clear-coat as used on boats, cars and airplanes work?
There are a number of multi-color paint techniques we used on metal to make
it look like wood grain, bark, marble, spackle, etc then we sprayed clear on
the various projects to protect them from the ravages of El Sol. 

On aluminum we used an etch, then zinc chromate primer over which we applied
the base coat then the weird color schemes followed by the clear coat. I
think it must have worked pretty well because there were no complaints. 

BTW, NEVER bake an aluminum scuba cylinder under a heat lamp- they go
"boom"!
