	Electronic voting should be banned forever - no exceptions.  After the 
2000 elections, anyone trusting those contraptions would have to be a 
low-grade idiot.  I would be far more inclined to trust them if the code 
were public domain.  This would allow for peer-review by people a whole 
hell of a lot smarter than those who designed it.  But there would also 
have to be in place a set of protocols for handling the machines so that 
there would be no switcheroos or other funny business.  Such protocols 
actually already exist for network security and could be adapted for 
this specific application.  I would also remove the manufacturer from 
the loop completely - too much potential conflict of interest there.  It 
*could* be made safe and secure.
