In Ohio, to get your CCW license, you must give your fingers prints and go thru a BCII (Thats the state of Ohio investigative police) and FBI check. I volunteered to teach at the local middle school, they needed a background check, because of all of the people who would be around these kids from bad experiences from the past. I think that is in many states. I did have a limited explosive handler license and had to give finger prints for that. When I was in the army, I was finger printed, At Ohio State when I received "secret" clearances to work on some projects, I was finger printed.

I hear that bank personnel are finger printed, have criminal and financial checks.

Now government service, at least the military requires a DNA swab, Having national IDs isn't coming, it is already here. 

I am a member of the Monroe County Medical Reserve Corps for emergency situations and disasters, I just got my CCW card out and they copied it and that requirement was satisfied.

Almost all of us are in the system some where. I have been in countries that they ask for your "papers" or your identity card no matter who you are.

    A sad state of affairs it is when one cannot scratch his own ass 
without worrying about someone suing.
