This post got me to thinking about some of the great scrounging and  
salvaging that blacksmiths have done. I would love to hear what 'finds' or  'deals' 
some others have made. 
 
One of my best happened along route 202 in Chester County in Southeastern  
PA. That's where I found two 1200'  rolls of 1/16" x 4" laying in the  weeds. 
Well over two tons of new steel. I watched them rust for months and  finally 
couldn't stand it any longer. I went down with my bench shears and cut  off 8' 
pieces. I told everyone I knew about it. I ended up with about 300'. In  the 
past five years I have used almost eleven feet of it.
