Halon systems are used in computer rooms, too. It replaces the oxygen in a
room with a non-flammable, non-toxic, gas (halon) that puts fires out
quickly. Puts people out, too, since most of us need that oxygen. I suppose
you have as much time as you can hold your breath without passing out, but
then you'd be stuck. But they like it because it also leaves no residue, no
liquid, etc., so the stuff that's being protected doesn't get wrecked by the
protection system. And it's got to be in a fairly well-closed room,
otherwise more air would sneak in and allow ignition.
