Way cool - that is what I would like to do here on our mountain. Lots
of $$ in our case because of all the blasting that would have to be done
to establish the hollow in the mountainside. Mostly sandstone, but also
lots of red shale - very hard and cannot be cut by dozer. But if we
ever do it, I would like to cast a huge concrete structure into the
mountainside and build the house structure outward from that. Basically
a big box with a large root cellar in the mountain itself and the
greenhouse would be accessible just off the kitchen area. A semi-earth
sheltered shop would be another nice thing.
