Prudence allays fear in this arena and it sounds like you are doing what
is necessary.
Your redundant shutoffs ( one outside and one at the forge) are good
practice.
Good ventilation for exhaust and ground vapors are required.
Protecting delicate lines, especially around the forge is good too.
A thousand utter idiots somehow manage not to blow themselves up every
day using propane BBQs. You are paying attention to safety and should do
just fine. Playing with fire really is a lot of fun!..pf
