If its narrow strips (up to 3") and falt curve:  tire bender or similar at 
just about any sheet metal shop.

If its big wide sections:  scaled-up repousse: 8-12 pound sledges in a sand 
box.

By "suggesting" a globe, I a,m assuming you mean roughly, not exactly 
spherical.  You may need to be more specific to get exactly the info you 
need
