[TheForge] new anvil id

Just traded a campfire cooking set for a small anvil, could just make out  
"AMERICAN" (I think) inside an oval, stamped 9  5  which seems about right.
Beautiful shape, some of the lower parts are pitted from sitting outside,  
but the face is clean and crisp.
Anyone know where to look for a serial number, and whether "american" was  
made by a company we know better?
