I had made a pair years ago with a velcro strap to hold them on.
For those who like the idea but don't want to make them, in recent years I 
have gone commercial and use

I bought them on a whim in the camping store years ago and just bought 
myself another pair as the rubber strap are starting to crack, Didn't break 
yet this year. But they are easy on and off , comfortable to walk in and 
are not lethal to flooring
