The good hitting came in tapering a 6" spike out to about 14". I was
tired by the time I got to what you see in the video.
Feel free to steal the design. I stole it from the guy I mentioned in
the description.
That holder is a doubled up foundry glove and on long enough pieces I
do often wear it in place of using tongs (for short periods) I was
using it there to mainly keep the spike from jumping out of place on
me as I couldn't find a good way/place to set it and get the hit
angle I wanted.
I know what you mean though. I got stupid on the job once while
trying to cut a circular hole into the side of a 22" pipe with an
angle grinder. There was one small triangle of metal that I tried to
wiggle loose by hand and wound up burning through my work glove and
most of the pad on my thumb before my brain even realized I was
getting burned.
I like to think I'm more caution these days.
As for my daughter, at 5 she's mastered some words I won't even use!
I think she got them from her mother...
