Pete- why is the finish "lost" now?
Do you not know how he did it?

People were constantly writing in and swearing by the copper bracelets.
It embarrassed him terribly to have anything to do with quackery. But he
finally came to terms with it saying that, if believing in something
untrue made people feel better, who was he to argue? They never
mentioned it in their ads.
They had a wonderful baked on finish ( now lost) that prevented any
possible skin contact with the copper.
Many of the surviving pieces are still bright, now, 50 some years later.
