First off, did you check with Dixie gun works out of TN? They have a lot of parts for very antique guns. Further more if they don't have the exact spring they may have one that is close enough to make it work. Further more I know for a fact that they carry make your own spring steel stock as well as books on making springs for guns. If you have the stock and have it shaped right and you follow what most everyone has already said about tempering, you should come out fine.

Go here: www.dixiegun.com

Further more, if you are into old guns, especially blackpowder stuff, it is always worth the $5 to get a catalog from them.

This all just remeinds me that I don't have a current catalog and need to make another trip down to their store for some stuff. Plus there's a really good motocycle junkyard on the way down. Need parts for the project bike as well.
