My father-in -law (retired USAF Col.) calls this stuff PSP or Pierced 
Steel Planking.  Said he used to take off loaded B-24's on Guadalcanal 
and this PSP would "roll up" in front of him as he went.  I'll ask him 
if they landed on it or not.  I doubt there is any of this around 
anymore.  JA
