Andy, call or email Duff.
He is now a dealer for Permalac.
They make a whole system of lacquers, clearcoats, and waxes that work
together, and so you can even clear laquer over wax- which I would
have thought was a recipe for disaster, but Duff swears it can work
great. As long as its their wax- not just any wax.
Anyway, the general consensus is that paint doesnt last, and rust
never sleeps, but Permalac is pretty much the best there is.
Duff (known to his momma as John Medwedeff) is reachable thru his
website-

He is an incredible blacksmith and metal artist, who ended up buying
enough Permalac for his own projects that he just started stocking the
stuff, and he really knows a lot about it.

Help! I can't seem to find the list archives...I know this question
has been asked over and over..
I made a set of chairs for a beautiful home and finished them in a wax
finish, now the customer wants patio furniture and loves the look of
unpainted steel.
All the local steel gurus just shrug and say that clear finish won't
last no matter what I do...
Any suggestions?
I'm pricing stainless, as an alternative, but the look he really likes
is to match what I already did.
