Wasn't trying to push a button, there are a buttload of people around
that somehow think that if we are nice to everyone, that everyone will
be nice right back at us. To them stating the obvious is not only
necessary, but requires a glass etching on the mirror where they shave,
and a tattoo on the back of their hand<G>. These people never met the
bully in the school yard as an opponent, while trying to move out of the
way of harm quietly. The bully is one because he gets something from
the action. Lunch money, fear, power.

I was raised Southern Baptist, but do my own thing now<G>. Christian
goodness requires both an accepting atmosphere AND the power to enforce
it. If you look closely at the mid-east, much of the turmoil that is
occurring is because the hand of Russia has retracted. Old tensions
that were dormant due to large fly swatters, are now rampant because
they can be<G>.

Reference to the response by Mr. Vida, it does make perfect sense. If I
can parrot nice sayings to you and at the same time slap my wife around
and you can't do anything about it; then I get my way because no one
will step in and FORCE a change. Not saying that we should, just making
the point. Working in a multi-cultural environment demands acceptance
of things as normal, that normally would not be thought of at all. Like
living in a big city. Big cities require people to accept a higher
level of violence and theft than anyone in a small city or community
would ever consider possible. The larger an entity becomes, the more
accepting of $&#@!^ the entity must become in order to continue to do
business or exist. IE our working alongside China, while allowing them
to not honor what we consider basic human rights. If we start getting
tough on them then the business will stop. Like Rush says, follow the
money<G>. Well, I figure you followed me until I said Rush<G>. Ann
Coulter, said that just to get some blood running this morning. Not
enough coffee yet.

All the Best

I had not considered that angle, but it makes sense. I have
noticed
that the Chinese government makes a big noise regarding respecting
private property rights, but take precious little action consistent with

their gumming. As you point out it really makes no sense, given the
underpinnings of their political philosophy.
