Cast iron makes a thunk sound.  A wrought anvil (with steel top) can ring 
very loudly.  I three anvils (Peter Wright, Mouse Hole, and Trenton) that 
have wrought iron bodies and they all have a nice ring and good rebound.

I'm not sure it's wrought.  It rings like bell when I hit it.  I thought 
that most Iron made more of a thunk or a thud when you hit it?
