There's a smith in Wisconsin, Monty Bygd, who is a pipe fitter. He made a
flue out of 14" dia. Pipe. It is bolted to a footing on the ground outside
the shop. A section of the pipe comes in through the wall at a 45 degree
angle in a "side-draft" approach to the forge. I hear it works very well.

Flue pipe?

Any of you fellows ever built a coal forge flue using big steel pipe? I
am looking for 16 - 24" pipe, no luck yet. Any comments appreciated. I
will need my flue to be approx. 25-30' tall to give 3-4' clearance above
roof line. now is the time for this as if all goes well we will have a
new roof on the shop soon.

Thanks,
James
