[TheForge] How large a generator?

Hi Andy,

We bought ours about five years ago, so the details are hazy. I think I
came up with 4kW, maybe 5 on a good day being our likely burn rate
(house only). That caused me to decide on an 8kW unit. Remember that
fuel consumption unloaded depends on generator size. If your generator
consumes 1 gallon per hour at max power, it will consume close to 1/2
gallon per hour at idle. If you have wildly varying loads (like house vs
shop), you will likely do a lot better with two separate generators,
only running the big one when needed.
