Ever have one of those Aha! moments, only to realize you were dumb not
to have thought of it years ago?

I needed to start my lawnmower today, and it was cool out so the
engine was not cooperative.  I looked around for some starter fluid
(ether) and couldn't find any.  I considered substituting acetone, but
this mower has a lot of plastic parts the acetone might damage.  What
to do?

While looking around in my garage some more, I spotted the propane torch. (!)

It was tricky balancing the torch near the air filter but once I
succeeded in that, and turned on a stream of propane (unlit, of
course), I started the mower on the first try.
