[TheForge] old wife's tales

There is some myth/lore associated with ANVILs in Postman's "Anvils in
America" page 430.
A sick child would be placed on the anvil and the smith would strike the
horn to drive the sickness out of the child.
An even better one: place the child in the slack tub, then place the child
on the anvil while 3 smiths with the same name passed pieces of hot iron
over the child.

Subject: [TheForge] old wife's tales
Another obscure request…I am looking for old wife’s tales, lore and myths
about blacksmiths and smithing related things. For example: soaking in
slack tub water cures poison ivy. Anyone know of other home remedies and
superstitions that blacksmith related or good sources for such?
Thanks
KG
