[TheForge] Aluminium

What is the problem / concern with UV? I have never heard of that being an
issue with aluminum. Corrosion can be a big issue with high performance
alloys such as 2024 or 7075. That is why almost all aircraft / aerospace
alloys are clad with pure aluminum. The product is called "Alclad" and is
done at hot rolling by forge welding (in the rolling mill) a layer of pure
aluminum to the alloy in the center. No flux is used. Typical at the
cladding operation the alloy is 22 inch thick with a 1 inch top and bottom
pure aluminum added. When rolled out to finish plate or sheet you get a
thin surface pure aluminum and a alloy core.

If you want to paint the aluminum there are a series of chromate primers
made for aluminum. Your industrial paint supply is the best source.
